Description:
Beginning in 1942, the U.S. government brought over 15,000 enemy soldiers to Missouri, sending them to 30 camps around the state. The POW's had a great deal of freedom and opportunities for recreation. They worked on local farms and many friendships grew out of this interaction between prisoners and residents. Through photographs and stories from those who experienced it firsthand, David Fiedler tells the story of when POW's came to Missouri and how residents reacted when they came face-to-face with the enemy.
