The follow-up to "Simon Bloom: The Gravity Keeper," "Simon Bloom: The Octopus Effect" is a humorous, action-packed book by Michael Reisman. This novel will keep readers laughing and immerse them into the story while also teaching them about important science concepts. In the last book, eleven-year-old Simon Bloom - who has just become Keeper of the Teacher's Edition of Physics - and his friends, Alysha and Owen, have just been using their scientific powers to defeat the villain Sirabetta. Now, Sirabetta has escaped and is out for revenge - and it's up to Simon, Alysha, and Owen, now twelve years old, to stop them. To do so, they must journey to the realm of the Order of Biology and gain some new and surprising scientific abilities, with the help of old friends and new arrivals alike. However, their powers may not be a match for Sirabetta and her army. Will Simon and his allies defeat Sirabetta, or will they go down to her? Read this fascinating, interestingly narrated book to find out! Although I didn't like this book as much as I liked the first one, I would still definitely recommend it to middle-grade readers who love science fiction/fantasy and adventure novels.  Library Catalog
